Sean has a BSc degree in Biochemistry from the University of London. He gained further technical experience at University College London (UCL) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust, where he was awarded a PhD for his research into the neurometabolic mechanism behind the efficacy of the ketogenic diet in the treatment of neurodegenerative disease.
Sean then worked as a postdoctoral medical researcher at Southampton General Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust, investigating potential immunotherapeutic routes for the treatment of atopic patients.
Sean’s research has been published in the Journal of Neurochemistry.
Upon joining the profession, Sean obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Bournemouth University, for which he was awarded the highest overall mark in his academic year. He then went on to qualify as a European Patent Attorney in 2019. After then also qualifying as a Chartered Patent Attorney, he completed the Basic Litigation Skills Course and Assessment offered by CPD Training (UK) Ltd.
Sean is experienced in patent drafting, prosecution and due diligence work. His clients often praise him for his understanding of their commercial goals and his ability to plan and execute large portfolio strategies. In one example, he assisted in the successful closing of a $1B acquisition of his biotech client.
Sean has been recognised as one of Managing IP’s Rising Stars in both 2023 and 2024.
In January 2026, Sean was promoted to Principal.
