We are delighted to announce we have put our client, Electric Green, forward to CIPA for a nomination for The Earthshot Prize 2025. CIPA’s case study features Electric Green’s wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging system and can be read here.
Electric Green’s charging system allows vehicles to charge by parking over a charging pad embedded in the ground, eliminating the need for cables or plug-in charging terminals. The system is particularly useful for disabled users and fleet operators because it does not require drivers to get out of their EVs to initiate charging.
A key feature of the system is its “one-to-many” design, where a single unit can power up to 100 charging pads, reducing installation costs and space requirements. This makes it suitable for urban areas and regions with limited infrastructure.
By promoting more frequent and convenient charging, the technology could lead to smaller vehicle batteries, reducing the reliance on rare earth metals. This contributes to cleaner air and supports the transition to net zero by 2050.
George Schlich, founder and Director at Schlich, said:
“Using and charging your electric vehicle is meant to be like this: arrive and park and charging just begins. No cables to plug in. No waving your credit card at the payment screen. The Electric Green system gives you that joy.”
The Earthshot Prize was established by Prince William’s Royal Foundation in 2020. Each year it awards £1 million to a winner in each of its five categories to encourage innovative ideas and solutions to address the Earth’s environmental challenges.
We will keep our fingers crossed for Electric Green’s success!
