Andrew Clements
 |
Andrew is a European Patent Attorney and Chartered Patent Attorney with experience of worldwide patent filing and prosecution on behalf of a wide range of clients, ranging from small academic and commercial clients to multi-national pharmaceutical companies and large attorney firms.
His work is principally in the field of biotechnology (including genetics, molecular biology and cell biology) but has also included a range of chemical and mechanical cases.

Helen Henderson
 |
Helen qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2010 and has a wide variety of experience in UK and worldwide patent drafting, filing and prosecution, in particular European prosecution and opposition work. As part of her practice Helen works closely with clients on intellectual property portfolio strategy and management to ensure that their portfolios provide cost-effective protection for their commercial interests.
Helen has a PhD in molecular biology from Bristol University where she wrote her thesis on molecular, cellular and endocrine mechanisms underlying the intrapituitary control of fertility.

Simon Mitchell

Simon is a trainee patent attorney and his practice focuses on the filing and prosecution of UK, European and other international patents. Simon practices in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and mechanical devices.
Simon joined Schlich & Co following a period of academic research, during which he gained a wide training in life science technologies in research laboratories in the UK and the USA.

Stephen Ritter

Steve is a senior European Patent Attorney, qualified in 1973, and from 1976 was a Partner in a leading UK Patent Attorney firm, ultimately acting as Senior Partner and head of its Life Sciences section. From 2006 to date he has acted as an independent IP Consultant.
His main practice is in Chemistry and Life Sciences, particularly the fields of small molecule pharmaceuticals and recombinant DNA technology.
Steve Ritter brings to Schlich & Co his wealth of patent attorney knowledge and his extensive experience in EPO Oppositions and Appeals; he has represented Patentees and Opponents in several leading cases including ones concerned with α-interferon, humanised antibodies, phage display, DNA fingerprinting and polynucleotide arrays. In many of these, International litigation was contemplated or in progress.

George Schlich
 |
George is an experienced European Patent Attorney, Chartered Patent Attorney and Registered Trade Mark Attorney practicing in chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical and mechanical technologies. One particular speciality is stem cells - George is Patent Counsel for Stem Cell Sciences Plc (see www.stemcellsciences.com).
He has represented patent owners and opponents at inter-partes hearings before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the UK Patent Office, and has extensive experience of Opposition and Appeals, meriting an entry in the UK's "Legal 500", and has attended interviews with examiners at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
George is a member of CIPA's Council and its Education and Biotechnology committees.

is our Records Manager at Schlich & Co and has wide experience in patent and trade marks formalities. She has the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Private Secretary’s Diploma. Dawn obtained a CIPA Certificate in Patent Administration in 2007 and a ITMA Certificate in Trade Mark Administration in 2009.

Amanda Berry

Amanda's role as Office Manager at Schlich & Co is to ensure the smooth running of the office. She has an HND in Business and Finance and a Certificate in Personnel Practice from the Institute for Personnel and Development. Schlich & Co benefits from her work within the legal sector and the office management skills she gained whilst working in her previous recruitment and manufacturing environment.
