Mike has a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and initially trained as a patent attorney whilst working in-house in the pharmaceutical industry before moving into private practice.

Mike’s specialist areas of practice are pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemistry and general chemicals and he has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications on a worldwide basis for small, medium and large pharmaceutical companies, drug discovery companies, universities and research institutes relating to all aspects of pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals.

In addition, he has a wide experience of other types of subject matter including mechanical engineering, pipeline technology, polymers, materials, medical devices, food technology, optics, instrumentation, sports equipment, registered designs and trade marks. Mike has also handled contested proceedings such as patent litigation and oppositions in the European Patent Office, UK patent courts, UK Trade Marks Registry and elsewhere.
